The incidence of phytoplankton communities sequences on toxic dinoflagellate Dinophysis acuminata occurrence was studied in the course of summer 1983, in Vilaine Bay. Despite difficulties in finding obvious relationship between occurrences of that species in the fields and preceding species it nevertheless may be emphasized: 1) a real perturbation of ecosystems is noticeable (rank-frequency diagrams); 2) the amount of sampling stations might be reduced in so far as representative stations are maintained.

Evaluation du potentiel nutritif des eaux de la baie de Vilaine pendant l'été 1987 ArchiMer

The growth potential study of waters of the Vilaine bay was realized from march to september 1987 and for three sampling stations. The growth of depleted test cells of Skeletonema costatum was estimated and compared from existing nutrients pools for aIl water samples. As a first result it appears that inorganic nitrogen could stimulate the growth during spring while no clear relationship is observed between the algal growth and other hydrological parameters during spring or summer periods. Nevertheless these first results need further corroboration.

Rôle des sédiments dans le cycle des nutriments et impacts sur l’eutrophisation des écosystèmes côtiers ArchiMer

Eutrophication was studied in the coastal waters of Vilaine Bay (VB) in relation to that in the Loire and Vilaine rivers, by analyzing long-term trends of phytoplankton biomass and nutrient concentrations during the past decades. The reduction in dissolved riverine inorganic phosphorus concentrations (DIP) during the last two decades led to the significant decrease in chlorophyll a concentrations. However, dissolved inorganic nitrogen concentrations (DIN) decreased only slightly in the Vilaine and actually increased in the Loire, especially during summer. Simultaneously, phytoplankton in VB has undergone the following changes: 1) increase in biomass, 2) change in timing of the annual peak of biomass from spring to summer, 3) modification in seasonal course...
